2021.10.21 23:37 whoscoronavirus What would you have done if in my shoes?
I had an emergency that I needed to intent to while in the middle of an order. My daughter’s school called me telling me that my daughter accidentally got on the wrong bus.
The bus driver called me letting me know of the first stop address so I could get her (she is 6). I messaged my Uber Eats customer letting her know that I had to make a quick detour to get her and I’ll be on my way with her $50 dollars worth of food.
That didn’t set well with her and than proceeded to cus me out and report me to Uber.
I apologized 3 times for the inconvenience. When I finally got to her location, she wanted to meet me by her place of work which was impossible due to the cops blocking the street for a parade in Downtown.
I had to park away from downtown and walk with my daughter to give her the food. I apologize again and given her $5.00 out of my pockets for how sorry I felt about the situation. I didn’t know what to do, I was scared for my daughter being stranded. I had to pick her up first before dropping off this lady’s food.
After the order was complete, she took the proposed tip away and reported me to Uber.
If you were in my shoes, what would you have done?

2021.10.21 23:37 lilbean092 What breed of dog do you recommend for allergen detection?
I have a severe peanut allergy (anaphylaxis, life or death situation if I even touch a peanut). Recently, I found out that you can get service dogs that are specially trained to detect allergens. I am seriously considering getting one. I am going to have to go through the whole training process, and I'm brainstorming some ideas for what breed of puppy to choose. I have no mobility issues or any other health problems, so the size of the dog doesn't matter to me. My top choice right now is a tie between a Doberman Pinscher (very smart, loyal, don't shed too much) and a Golden Retriever (easy to train, very friendly). I have experience with dobermans, and I think they are beautiful dogs, but I'm worried whether their protective tendencies may cause problems in crowded stores/areas with lots of people. Golden Retrievers are also gorgeous and have wonderful temperaments, but they are so common and shed a bit too much for my liking. I would also prefer if the dog didn't absolutely love every single person, and instead bond mainly with me (obviously still polite and well behaved around other people/dogs). Some of the other breeds I came up with include a German Shepherd, a Pembroke/Cardigan Welsh Corgi, or a Rottweiler.
Does anyone have any advice on what breeds to look into/what breeds to avoid for allergen detection work? They don't have to be on my brainstormed list; if anyone else has any other breeds in mind, I'd love to hear them!

Hi, I'm from Brazil, I love talking and sharing stories. I'm currently a podcast producer and manage the social media of an entertainment page. I love games, series, movies, anime, comics, manga and every kind of geeky/nerdy thing you can imagine. I'm very open minded to all kinds of conversations and I'm usually a good listener, although I don't know if I'm a good advisor, I always try to help.
If you want to learn Portuguese, I can teach you. Or if you just want someone to talk to, I'll be happy to talk to you and be your friend.

2021.10.21 23:37 Beachhaze Elway
“It’s time”, John mutters.
As the rest of the suite looks on sullenly, John lightly puts down his crown and coke and heads towards the door.
“Mr. Elway”, nods the usher.
Not acknowledging the comment, John immediately turns left out of the suite and moves toward the elevator. Eyes unwavering but focused, he quietly waits, hands crossed in front of him.
Another usher with multiple pieces of flair greets John in her usual way.
“Hey Johnny! Where you headed?!”, she happily announces.
“Basement”, he clearly annunciates with no extra emphasis.
“…Uh, sure thing!” She pushes the B3 and the doors slide shut. An uneasy and silent aura fills the small space. Aware of the feeling, she thinks about creating some conversation, but something prompts her she shouldn’t.
Seconds later, the doors slide opens and John glides through into the dimly lit hall.
“See ya later Johnny!”, and then again, silence.
Walking through the series of pipes and cabling lining the walls, he knows exactly where’s he’s going. He’s been preparing for this since he retired. This has been the backup plan all along. He had it approved by Pat before…
Suddenly, he stops at door. It’s unassuming like any of the other doors he passed. The label reads “07-83JE”
Undoing the top button of his shirt, his hand produces a necklace. It’s his first Super Bowl ring from 1997. With reflex-like muscle memory, he loops it over his head and places it flush into the ‘0’ on the ‘07’ and twists.
A green lit led is displayed and a retinal scanner slides into view above the placard.
John moves in close, but unflinching, and a red laser quickly scans his deep blue pupil. A ‘whoosh’ sound is heard and air escapes the door edges as it opens toward the inside.
At first the room is pitch black. Then, quickly dissipates as lights illuminate the ambient edges of the walls in a subtle orange hue. On the far wall, a full football uniform is pristinely displayed. The ground begins lighting a dark blue line towards the uniform. As it approaches, it scales out, criss-crossing and circling. When completely lit, it forms an obvious Bronco ‘D’ of their now throw-back jerseys.
John subtly smiles and begins unbuttoning his cuff links. He’s been preparing both his mind and his body. What was portrayed by all accounts as an aging body, is actually a chiseled and strong physique hidden under a facade.
He always knew this could happen. He tried through the years to set Denver on a path towards success. He vetted player after player, coach after coach, hoping, searching for a successor…
With his uniform pants on, he starts taping his fingers-
… and a couple of times he got close. Kubiak, Manning, short term solutions to bring glory, but not a dynasty. It was then directly after the last Super Bowl win and Pat’s mental decline that 07-83JE was established.
The edict was simple: Find a successor with the DNA of a Shanahan or Kubiak. Someone to lead the Broncos into the next era. If one was not found by the time Pat was… gone, they conceded two things: One, the team would probably be lost to a new owner outside of Pat’s control, and two, John would be the ultimate successor if this happened by means of again being a player.
The last 8 years of John’s life had been spent relentlessly searching and molding his lifestyle. Tibet, th Maldives, Jakarta, Romania. John had searched the corners of the Earth for a formula to stop the aging process and regain youth and vitality. He had finally found the answer late during the pandemic in the place he last expected: Green River, CO…
…John finally places his signature number 7 jersey over his head and pads. The final step was a a single orange button displayed under the uniform’s framework, now bear. This single button press would activate his status in the league as an active roster member. Smiling, he places his right index finger on the button and presses it with only a single indicating green light prompting him the process was complete. Grabbing his helmet, he turns and heads toward the door and onto the field, the lights dimming behind his footsteps.
… as John walked back through the catacombs of Mile High, his mind wandered to that discrete location 100mi south of Green River. There he found what Ponce de Leon and others couldn’t: The Fountain. Hidden deep within Navajo lore, John had used every resource he had accumulated to find it. But it wasn’t a typical fountain of water springing forth from the ground, but a tree of distinctly unique shimmering leaves that created a fountain like appearance. Taking a sample back to his friends at Stanford, he was able to map and replicate its properties. He hid the discovery in plain site by completely open sourcing his findings through various scientific outlets, providing pieces here and there but not holistically. Only he had that knowledge. Only he alone had all processes. He still remembers that first drink, in the form of a smoothie. No effect was obvious, but by the next morning, he had regained all his mobility and any injury or nagging, chronic pain was gone. He began workouts the day after, and within 30 days he had regained the muscle mass of his early 20’s.
He remembered his promise to Pat throughout the ordeal: Become a player; THE player.
As the light and roar of the crowd grew louder, John honed his senses. His pupils dilated and his hands became calm. An effect of the fountain was enhanced focus which he didn’t fully realize until that very moment.
As the tunnel’s end grew closer something shifted in the crowd’s deafening screams. The announcers new something was coming and has relayed it to the crowd but no one really seemed to know. It was almost a hysteria, now. The security guards glanced up to see John walk by in disbelief. John smiled at each one.
One guard’s name was Chester McNeil. Chester had grown up in Aurora, CO and had been a fan his entire life. A high school phenom, Chester’s career was cut short by a devastating injury to his left knee changing his entire life’s trajectory. But Chester couldn’t stay away from football. He gave up every opportunity to relive his passion for the game those few months of the year. But nothing prepared him for this. There before was a ghost, an apparition. There was John Elway in his prime. As John walked by and smiled at him, Chester almost fainted. His shaking hands frantically searching for his iPhone to snap a photo. The shot he did get became the most iconic picture in NFL history even years later. A silhouette of Elway against the stadium’s bright lights with his ‘7’ illuminated by the overhead light of the tunnel. Time magazine would put it on its front cover with one simple caption: “Greatest Ever.”
After he entered the stadium a hush fell over the crowd. Elway trotted to the sideline of his Bronco teammates enthusiastically. A few fans on the near side when he ran past immediately started screaming. It quickly ballooned into a hysteria, like a wave of insanity gripping the crowd. As John moved closer to the bench, a few team members near the seats quietly moved aside as he walked up to Coach Fangio.
It was a deafening roar eclipsing the loudest crowd on record in any NFL stadium.
“I’m ready coach. Put me in.” Fangio said nothing while calling a timeout and gesturing to Bridgewater to come to the sideline. As Teddy, at first frustrated, then exasperated by what his eyes beheld, came closer he almost unwittingly took off his helmet and without looking away, went to the QB bench section.
“John, I…I don’t know, can thi…I mean-“
“I get it coach, I know what you must be thinking, but it’s legit, check upstairs.”
Fangio quickly started stammering into his headset, and after about 30 seconds, he flipped the mic up and cam back over to John;
“I have no idea how this is possible, but you’re right, it’s all signed and sealed. But you don’t know the off-“
“I know it coach. I’ve spent the last month go over your schemes. They’re shit, frankly, but we’ll work those out later. Right now there’s a game to win.”
Fangio said nothing.
John smiled his toothy grin and trotted out onto the field. The only way to describe the atmosphere was pandemonium. Here was John Elway in 2021 going in as the Broncos quarterback at 61.
The huddle was dead silent. John kneeled down look at each pair of eyes on him and felt the disbelief.
“Guys I know what you’re thinking, but trust me, we got this. So get your heads on right and let’s go blow these sons-of-bitches out!”
The rest, as they say, is history. At 61, Elway should be practicing his golf swing, instead, he’s now dominated the NFL for the last 4 years with no signs of stopping. Multiple studies have been done, blood has been drawn, medical professionals have been sequestered, and they all conceded that Elway has the cellular body of a 23 year old as a man who’s been in this Earth for 61 years.
Tom Brady has now committed to a 50-plus retirement age…maybe. The Elway-Brady rivalry has become stuff of legend.
In 2024, the Broncos won the Super Bowl. Elway was the MVP. During the interview, they asked him, “is this it? Are you now done?”
Elway replied, “No. I made a promise, to Pat. It will never be complete.”

2021.10.21 23:37 EntangledStardust I’m moving to the opposite side of the country and I haven’t told anyone in my life.
I’m 19 and I live in the same small town where I grew up. My parents have always put a lot of pressure on me to conform to their own ideas what a perfect daughter should be like. I’ve always tried to fit in with everyone around me no matter how different I feel. I tried hard in school and I can’t remember the last time I didn’t go to church on a Sunday. I thought it would get easier as time went by. I thought that getting good grades and doing well in sport would show my family that I am capable of making my own way in life. But I feel like they’ve just become more and more controlling. And whenever I do anything out of line with what they expect, they get really cruel. Like, back in high school, I came fourth in a big track-meet and, because I didn’t win, my parents didn’t let me eat anything or see anyone for two days.
After I graduated from high school, I talked to my parents about my hopes and dreams and how I wanted to go to university. I tried to explain how their plans for me (i.e. staying at home and becoming a youth pastor) didn’t align with what my heart and mind wanted. But they got so mad and stopped talking to me. Like, we live together, but they just ignored me whenever we were in the same room. They also, again, stopped me from seeing others. The people who I thought were my friends and were old enough to make their own decisions listened to my parents and ignored me too. After about two weeks, I gave up and told them what they wanted to hear. I’d missed the start date for becoming a youth pastor, so ever since, I have just been working while waiting for the next intake. But I haven’t been able to bear this. I want to explore and meet new people, I want to find out more about myself and I don’t want to be stuck here following rigid and narrow-minded rules.
So, I started secretly saving and planning. After being lucky enough to get an entrance scholarship, I enrolled in a university on the other side of the country (a place where I have never been before), and I’m leaving soon (by the end of the year).
I haven’t told anyone this. I’m scared that those in my life will force me to stay. When my family aren’t home, I will just leave with whatever I can take in a couple of bags. I’ll write them a note of course and they will have my phone number, but I don’t want them to know where I am going.
It’s been so lonely holding on to this so I decided to make an account and share this here. I’ve never really done this before so I don’t know what I expect in return. It’s just been nice to tell someone.

2021.10.21 23:37 X7VU How to respond to anti-indigenous racism in class?
I'm in an alternative class while i'm trying to finish highschool in my predominantly white town. I am the only native in my school which makes me feel even more isolated. The alternative class i'm in generally has 3/4/5 people in at a time. There are usually 2 teachers in there too. Most students are seniors, I think I am the only junior, but I am the age of a senior.
We are doing an assignment on american history....
2 students chose a topic that revolves around native american history. One person who I trust to not be blantantly racist is doing the trail of tears, another is doing goddamn thanksgiving. The latter is who I am afraid of.
I think on the first week of school we took a field trip to a 100% free clothing store for teens. I had noticed someone had donated a tshirt with the team "redskins" and a racist mascot. And then, off brand fake moccasins. The girl that i'm afraid of SNATCHED the fake moccasins very quickly, almost hitting me while trying to get to them. And then she went for the "redskins" racist tshirt...
We are also learning about the witch trials but started off with why people were in Massachusetts in the first place, so we were learning about "pilgrims" (colonizers). This girl talks a lot in class, and she went on a very strange rant about how the "pilgrims" and "indians" had to go to war because the "indians" were "killing little girls".
I was so astonished. This happened yesterday. My teacher ignored most of what she said but thankfully corrected her that the real or at least more nicer label is "native americans".
I cant ditch the day we are doing presentations. I get graded depending on attendence and participation, and i had already asked about presenting to my teacher 1 on 1 but they said no, but i know I will break down if I hear that student speak anything about "thanksgiving", with already knowing she has a weird thing for misinformation and racism towards natives.
My entire class is white. I dont know what to do, who to talk to. if i confront her i will have to spend the rest of the year with that. she also speaks over people and will argue with every cell in her body to be seen as right. If i tell my teachers, i doubt any of them will be educated enough to understand me and how to resolve this. im already ignored, downplayed, and treated differently because i have brown skin. presentation is next week. any advice or suggestions?

2021.10.21 23:37 tth1 Why doesn’t Trevor know magic?
Okay I know it’s been some time after season 4 but I’m on my first rewatch of the show and I’m really starting to wonder why Sypha never taught Trevor any magic while they were on the road. Ik the irl reason is because you want to keep the characters basically like how they are the game + it might cost more to animate both her and Trevor spitting flames but, the fact that he does even know some basic fire magic kinda doesn’t make sense to me, especially since we see just how much more powerful she is than him. I don’t know, let me know what you guys think and if it really is just me. 😅
