2021.10.22 00:18 Xghoststrike Can someone please explain to me like I'm 5 on how aces and eights works? As well, help me find a sniper build.

Part one of the post is how the heck does aces and eights work. The talent is very confusing. Please explain in detail.
Second question, I want to make a nemesis 1 shot sniper build. About 2 weeks ago I was running bounties and had these 2 dudes in my group who were absolutely destroying everything. I didn't even have to play. I saw 1 guy was using nemesis and the other was using the mantis. I inspected them quickly and only managed to see they both ran 4 peice aces, no chest or backpack. I'm guessing they ran chain killer and vigilance but I didn't look long enough. I asked them before I got off what they were hitting for, I assumed 15m. He told me 50-70m.
I just want to make the deadliest, hardest hitting sniper build. I understand with aces and chain killer you build up to the super shot and that's okay. I have read a lot of post and watched a few videos at least 7 different builds in total and they are all different. I'm so confused on what to do.
I had assumed aces, chain killer, vigilance, kill 2 enemies then shoot the boss with the super 3rd shot but again, I have no idea.
When making a sniper build, to achieve maximum damage you would use nemesis but the charge shot takes time and requires a bit slower playstyle, I would use that with a group but if solo or want to play faster, could I just swap out nemesis for white death or mantis? I wouldn't need to edit the build to change sniper would I?
Thanks in advance. I have finished about 6 builds now but I really just can't seem to understand snipers...

2021.10.22 00:18 whatyainfor I didn't really make friends, and now I'll have nobody to room with

I went to college hoping to try to find new people. After a year of being remote, I was really excited because I had been extremely lonely. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I got very overwhelmed with schoolwork, so that left barely any time to meet people and have fun. On top of that, I'm a very shy person, so it's difficult to put myself out there. I have no friends.
And now's the time to look for dorms and apartments. I keep on hearing people having their dorms and apartments with their friends, but I don't have anybody to room with at all. The only option I have is living in a single dorm. I'm afraid it's gonna be just me, hidden away from the world and lonely the whole time.

2021.10.22 00:18 burner85874092385 My hard learned advice on getting internships (if you're interested)

Last year I got WRECKED! I applied to like 30 companies and got nothing, granted 30 is not that much. However, out of desperation and inconsistent hard work, I managed to get 4 offers this time around at Amazon, Google, Cisco Meraki, and Bloomberg; this was after applying to a total of 14 companies. Even more surprising (to me) was that I stopped focusing or preparing for a month and half, applied to Bloomberg and got an offer last week. Is this me gloating? Maybe.. let me have my fun. This crushed me last year and I'm glad things are going my way now.

Anyway! now that this game is basically over for me, I wanted to share with you lot some of what I've learned in the hopes that someone out there can benefit from it.

**First**: https://www.educative.io/courses/grokking-the-coding-interview

This is an amazing resource. It's ridiculously expensive, but it's a small investment to make in yourself considering the reward. I'd say like 40% of the questions from my interviews came straight from here, and like 90% of questions in my interviews were significantly easier because I learned how to solve that particular pattern in this course. You can use the github developer pack to get 40 bucks off of it, but it's still expensive. However, if you do go this route, then you'll get access to all of Educative's courses including the next course I'm going to mention.

*personal tip*: I did two passes through this course (kinda). I did every question each pattern except for problem challenges. Then once I got to pattern 8: breadth first search, I went back to the beginning and did all the questions all over again, except this time I did the problem challenges. At this point, I was going through the course from two points at the same time.

Of course, the later point would follow the original approach. For example: Once I got to pattern 8, I would only do a couple of problems, and then skip the problem challenges to go on to pattern 9. But right after I did this (in the same practice section) I went back to pattern 1, and practiced a couple questions there as well. Once I got to the problem challenges, I actually did them this time.

I know this sounds like a stupid way of doing things, but the reason I did it was because by following this approach, you do every question twice (except for the problem challenges, you only do those once). And I did it like this because I was afraid that if it took me 3 months to get through the course, it would have been 3 months since i last practiced the first pattern! With this approach, I would practice pattern 1 again 1.5 months into the prep. So doing it this way helps you practice spaced recognition. And you through the easy problems twice, meaning you're more prepared for the practice problems.

This worked for me, if it sounds stupid to you, then follow your gut and do what works for you.

**Number two**: https://www.educative.io/courses/grokking-dynamic-programming-patterns-for-coding-interviews

Okay, so this was a legendary course to follow along through. First and foremost, understand the the first course I listed is challenging. But this second course is CRAZY hard! I spent like 4 days on the first problem. However, after sticking with it, I was able to move through the problems very quickly. I feel like I really picked up some intuition for DP problems using this course.

*personal tip*. I went through the whole course once only doing the top down approach. It just made more sense to me. Then I did a second pass, but this time trying to figure out the bottom up approach on my own. It was really hard and frustrating, but greatly rewarding.

I would recommend going through the course this way if you're new to these sorts of questions.

**Third**: https://leetcode.com/discuss/general-discussion/655708/graph-for-beginners-problems-pattern-sample-solutions/562734

Here are a bunch of graph questions you should solve. Know that graph doesn't have any questions on Minimum Spanning Trees, which is something you should learn also. And it only has a couple of questions on Shortest Path algo's like Dijkstra's for example. You should definitely practice more.

**Fourth**: https://leetcode.com/discuss/general-discussion/458695/dynamic-programming-patterns

This is if you want more practice with DP questions. I didn't actually go through this.

Another tip is to go through this process with a friend! I did this with my best friend, and we practiced interviewing each other like 2 or 3 times a week and we kept each other motivated and I really stayed on track because of him.
If you have a friend to do this with, then do it with them! Obviously learn the DSA stuff on your own, but you need to practice communicating clearly in an interview context. After mock interviewing with him several times a week for months, talking during interviews was so easy. I felt like the words would just come out exactly how I wanted them to. And it didn't even feel like grinding because you're practicing with a friend; after the mock interviews we would play minecraft till like 3 am. It was really awesome.
Also if you're wondering how to do this, you could go with something like AlgoExpert which has a really awesome mock interviewing tool. Me and my friend were both paying members, so we could interview as much as we wanted. Or you could use Pramp, but i think you only get 6 interviews before you have to start referring people or pay. Or you could do this bonus thing if you have time:
**Bonus if you have time**
I also built my own interviewing platform that me and my friend used a lot. I'm not going to link it, but it's pretty easy to build.
Use this javascript library: https://codemirror.net/ and be aware of all the event listeners you have access to in the docs.
And lookup how to use websockets, with any backend framework (I used ruby on rails with ActionCable) and I built this real time interviewing platform in one night. Just put it on some VPS and boom, you got yourself a walmart AlgoExpert/Pramp. We could see code updates in real time, and we would just facetime to talk to each other while we mock interviewed.
**Final Word**
Lastly, you don't need to grind so hard. Just give yourself enough time. I only did about an hour and half of work everyday. Maybe two hours. I'd usually wait until after dinner to start going through Educative's courses. I'd say that you should give yourself 3 months to prep.

Also many of these resources cost money. If you can't afford it, just go through blind 75, and make sure you have them all memorized basically. But I don't really like that approach. The majority of the questions I got were questions I had never seen before, but I was still able to solve them because of the intuition I had built up using educative.
Even though I only got 4 offers, I feel like I'm in a spot where I could keep getting more offers if I had the time to keep recruiting. But i was only able to get to this point with adequate prep.
So, do with this info what you will. good luck on recruiting!

2021.10.22 00:18 piefanart Advice for chronic uti?

Hello, I have chronic utis. I get one at least once per month. I end up bed/toilet ridden for 3-4 days each time before I can get on antibiotics. There is no mucus lining left in my bladder. My insurance no longer will cover pain medication, as according to them, I've gotten too many utis in a year. This has been going on with more and more frequency for three years now. I'm at my wit's end. Nothing helps prevent them. Antibiotics are hit and miss. I'm on aloe, d mannose, cranberry supplements, and azo. I've considered taking my life because my ability to function or hold a job has dropped to nothing. I can't eat when I get a uti. The pain is so much I end up dry heaving or blacking out. I can't do this anymore. The doctors don't know what's causing it. Help??
